Leica DISTO D5 indoor and outdoor laser measure

The Leica DISTO D5 is particularly suitable for distance measurements in outdoor areas. Due to the digital Pointfinder, aiming is no problem even in sunshine and at very long distances. Both the target and the measurement results can be seen very clearly on the large display with IPS technology. For maximum accuracy, the measurement can be triggered by gestures, which is a distinct advantage, especially over long distances. High flexibility is offered by various functions, such as Smart Horizontal Mode, height tracking, profile or angle measurements. This means that any measurement situation on the construction site can be solved quickly and efficiently. The data can then be transferred to the DISTO Plan app or individual templates, e.g. in Excel, and processed further to support an efficient and error-free digital workflow.

Trigger measurements with a wave of your hand
Sometimes, the pressure of pushing the ON/DIST button can cause the laser point to move off your target. At long measurement distances, even a small wobble at the laser emitter causes wide movement of the laser point at the end of the line, potentially ruining a measurement, especially on a small target.
Gesture-Activated Measurements: eliminate the need to touch the DISTO: Carefully place the laser dot or crosshairs of the Pointfinder Camera on your target and simply wave a hand in front of the device to briefly interrupt the beam. When the DISTO senses this pulse, it triggers the measurement.
Bluetooth Keyboard Mode
In this mode, your device sees the DISTO as a Bluetooth keyboard. Press send to deliver measured values to the cursor in any program.
Very useful for quickly sending values from the DISTO to a pre-defined form in Excel, for example.
Ensure accurate measurements from corners and tight places
The Multi-functional endpiece folds out from the back of the DISTO and automatically sets the measuring point to either the rear of the DISTO or the tip of the extended endpiece.
This DISTO-exclusive feature ensures that the DISTO is measuring precisely from an outside corner (a very common use case). When fully extended, it is possible to measure from the back of openings as narrow as 2.5mm. Combined with Min/Max mode, there is no better method for determining the precise corner-to-corner measurement of a rough opening when installing windows or doors.
Automatically Correct Angled Measurements
A laser beam is perfectly straight by definition, making it more accurate than a tape measure. That is also why a laser measurement taken at an angle returns a longer value: An angled line to a plane is longer than a level one. More often than not, this level horizontal distance is the measurement you need.
This fact of geometry can be a problem on active sites where stacks of materials, machinery or other obstacles prevent a level horizontal measurement. The longer the measurement, the greater the error.
In Smart Horizontal mode, DISTOs use the reading from an angle sensor to correct a measurement taken at an angle. The result is an accurate level measurement even if you have to aim over obstacles on the job site.
